Horus and Seth Do Battle at the College of Charleston

At the College of Charleston, studying ancient history has suddenly taken a dramatic turn, and ancient history will never be the same. In lieu of a final examination, and as a final class project, the students of History 270, Survey of Ancient Egypt, under their own direction, are producing and staging a faithful adaptation of an authentic ancient Egyptian sacred drama, "The Victory of Horus." They will stage only one presentation of the play on Thursday, April 20, 12:45-1:15 pm on the Cistern at the College of Charleston. Here the rituals and chants of ancient Egypt will be replay in the open air surrounded by the Greek Revival architecture of the Old South. In the event of rain, the performance will occur in the adjacent building, Alumni Hall. The production will be videotaped by the college's Office of Media and Technology.
